To the best fans in the world,
I am so amazed with all the kind words and support you have given me both during and after. American Idol Season 5. This past year has really opened my eyes to how much we all have in common. We’re all here living our lives together and it’s not always easy. The most important thing is unity. I love looking into a sold-out arena and seeing entire families enjoying our concert together. I feel so blessed to be a part of that and so spoiled to be able to share that moment with you. We are friends now, and your friendship means a great deal to me, and to my family. I’ve also discovered that the true value of celebrity is that it expands our ability to be able to help others.
As you may know, I am a big fan of all the kids in The Children’s Hospital, Denver. Ever since I was 18, I have been a frequent visitor to Children's; singing, telling stories, and laughing with the children many times each year, always including Christmas. Fortunately, even after moving to LA, I’ve still been able to visit every Christmas day. I just love being with these incredible kids, to share a smile when they haven’t smiled in weeks, and to remind them that there’s a whole world full of love and endless opportunity. These children know the meaning of life and help me understand what’s real. They give me the energy to live everyday and treasure my time with every person I meet.
Throughout my American Idol experience and during all my press conferences afterwards, I found out that you had been raising money for me to donate to Children’s upon my return to Denver. The original goal was $1,000, but you gave me a check for $7,777.77 in only 2 weeks time! Donations continued, finally reaching $10,777.77. And on May 5th, 2006, my family and I attended a check-donation ceremony at Children’s and presented the money that YOU raised. Thank you so much…we lead by example and yours is great. After meeting with the hospital administration we decided that the money you raised would go to a Family Amenities Area in Children’s new state-of-the art hospital, scheduled to open in Fall 2007. The total cost of the FAA is $1.5 million. Once completed, it will ease the lives of families whose children are staying in the hospital by giving them a comfortable place to sleep, providing a lounge, internet access and laundry facilities so they don’t have to go far from their sick or injured children
Now, I am excited about a way to continue raising money for the Family Amenities Area. This is a project that is dear to my heart. my parents and you Highrollers (and other fans) have been coordinating with Children’s to make this web site a place where all of us can unite and make an even bigger difference for these kids. All donations are tax deductible and go directly to the hospital. The Family Amenities Area needs $1.5 million - our goal here is to raise a minimum of $100,000 towards that, with a challenge goal of $250,000. With your help I know we can reach it! I’m writing my check, please unite with me in support of these wonderful kids and this project.
