The club décor was dark wood with white chiffon drapes and dramatic lighting. Ace’s spade logo illuminated many of the walls, while sponsors logos adorned the mirrors and columns. Casino black-jack tables were set-up throughout, playing off the name of Ace’s fans who call themselves “HighRollers”. White leather banquettes lined the perimeter and were set with metal buckets brimming with sponsored beverages by Fuze and Dry Soda Co. Scattered on the tables were take-away gifts including “Idol Vodka” keychains, and matchbooks containing cocktail recipes from “Hpnotiq”. In a separate curtained off area, there was a henna artist where guests could get tattooed with Ace’s spade logo!
Ace arrived to throngs of paparazzi and flashing bulbs. The red-carpet backdrop listed sponsors and headlined “Ace Young ~ Scattered” with the “HighRollers with Heart” logo in the center. Celebrity guests included the designer Ed Hardy, Rex Lee from “Entourage”, and Ken Davitian who’s currently starring in the movie “Borat” as well as past Idols Katherine McPhee, Elliott Yamin, Lisa Tucker, Anthony Fedorov and Kimberly Caldwell.
Sam Sarpong, co-host of the hit MTV show “Yo Momma”, was the MC for the evening’s festivities. The show opened with Tre Scott (formerly known as Trevor Penick from the group O-Town) who got the party started! Then came rapper “Buckwheat” followed by Ace’s good friend Tha Vill, whom Ace sang back-up tracks for prior to being on Idol.
Brooke, one of the Board of Directors for “HighRollers with Heart” took the stage and made a very passionate speech, on behalf of Ace’s fan sites. She spoke of how Ace had been bringing joy to young patients at the Denver’s Children’s Hospital for many years prior to his AI experience, and that beyond his obvious singing & songwriting talents, that more importantly his big heart was an inspiration to all. The HRwH Board then presented Ace with a check for $27,142 which exceeded the fundraising goal of 26k in 26 days! An emotional Ace gratefully accepted the check, which will be used towards the new Family Amenities Area of the hospital.
Ace thanked everyone and spoke of how much it meant to him that his fans have united to support this cause, which he and his family hold close to their hearts. He went on to say what a thrill it was to see the joy in the eyes of the children that he sang to every year during the holidays. Ace challenged and encouraged everyone to find their own way to give back and make a difference in the lives of others. Pay it forward, with no agenda.
While the DJ spun tunes and the dance floor heated up again, Ace met and posed for pictures with every HighRoller fan that had come from far & wide (there was a fan there from Africa!). He even gave each of them an autographed “Scattered” CD, personalized with their name on it and his famous heart signature!
Check out these two beautiful montages. They were both so great, we
couldn't decide on just one so we're including both for your enjoyment.
Thanks for the great job Flo!
